September. My how time flies. We are just one month closer to really catching fall fever. I had my first pumpkin muffin from Dunkin Donuts this past Friday morning. It was fabulous. I just wished I had the cooler weather to go along with it. Now that all of the BTS sales are over, all of the stores are putting up all of the Fall seasonal things. Can I make a confession? I bought a bag of candy corn. Was it to early? I try and just treat myself to a handful a day. Last week though, I was double dipping quite frequently!
I'm so glad that the beginning of the month has fallen on a long, holiday weekend. It's so much more fun to read all of the Currently's when you have that extra time.
Listening: I don't mind being back at school. It's been kinda nice to get back into a routine. However, I do miss my morning time. I miss getting up when I want to and enjoying my coffee while watching The Today Show and checking email. I have really enjoyed that time this morning!
Loving: I'm so thankful for this extra day. It gives me more time to "catch up" on my long list of things to do, until I create another long list!
Thinking: How am I going to get all of this testing done and teach all at the same time??!!!! I'm half way done with my DRA's, but AIMS benchmark testing starts this week. AAGH! My kiddos aren't at the "working 100% independently" stage yet. I have to find a happy medium of teaching, testing, and
busy seat work. What do the rest of you do? Please share any, or ALL ideas with me. Leave your responses below and tomorrow I will randomly pick one. The winner will receive my brand new product "What's My Sound?" Scoot.
Wanting: A personal secretary to do all of my testing. I would be willing to pay out of my own pocket at this point. Anything to make my life a little bit easier at this point. If you are willing to work for extra chocolate, soda, sweet treats, small gifts (remember that I make a teacher salary), let me know!!!!!
Needing: Routine. I want to be in a 100% set daily routine. I have yet to start guided reading groups, hence needing to finish DRA. I'm having a hard time making things flow. I like to make sure that my kiddos aren't sitting in one place for too long of a time. Making that work at the beginning of the year is kinda hard, especially when they are doing seat work and they yell out "I"M DONE!!!!" Routine. Schedule. Consistency.
Me: I have been going nonstop since school finished last year. I spent all summer finishing up my classes and capstone to finish my Master's. Three days after presenting my capstone, I went back to school. I don't have to say anything to you all about that mad rush. Anyway, I haven't had a lot of time to do stuff for just "me." I haven't been on the treadmill at all. I haven't been eating healthy (candy corn!). And, I simply haven't taken any time for myself. I had plans to get together with my teacher friends this summer and didn't get around to it. I really want to learn how to make time for myself without feeling guilty about it.
